In cultivating legumes, we aim to create conditions for low-intervention agriculture. Crop rotation with legumes every 3–5 years provides several key benefits:
- they fix atmospheric nitrogen in the soil, reducing the need for nitrogen fertilizers for future crops;
- they preserve soil microorganisms, improving fertility and interrupting disease cycles;
- they leave deep groundwater reserves untouched, benefiting subsequent grain crops.
Additionally, legumes require only one-tenth of the water needed for most other crops and require little to no nitrogen fertilization.
