Sustainability
The natural way of life is not only a philosophy but also a business behaviour model of our company. Therefore, in its production processes, SUICO has implemented various technologies to protect the environment as much as possible. We strive not only for sustainable rice and legumes growing but also for environmentally friendly processing and packaging of our products.
We grow rice sustainably through gravity irrigation, without the need for any additional energy
The process of sustainable rice cultivation starts with the hydro melioration of rice fields. Irrigation by natural gravity is a traditional agricultural method eliminates the need for external energy sources.

We provide conditions for sustainable rice cultivation, preserving natural biodiversity
Rice fields are a natural habitat for hundreds of wild animal species – waterfowl, fish, and insects. By strictly complying with the rules of sustainable rice cultivation, we protect their habitats and ensure their survival. In return, fish and birds naturally increase the level of nutrients in the soil, help decompose straw, and destroy harmful insects and plants, thus becoming part of the natural cycle of sustainable rice cultivation.

SUICO's rice paddy dryers operate entirely with energy from renewable sources and without waste generation
One of our major steps towards sustainable rice cultivation was the successful renovation of the rice processing plant in the village of Kovachevo. Today, SUICO's dryers run entirely on energy obtained from burning the waste rice husks. Thus, we switched to a zero-waste production process powered by renewable energy sources.

We have introduced air purification filters that reduce fine particle emissions by 92%
In our pursuit of sustainability, we have implemented another major upgrade in rice processing – we have drastically reduced the fine-particle emissions that are released into the air during rice husk grinding. The new high-tech filters we installed capture up to 92% of the particles.

We create conditions for the sustainable cultivation of leguminous crops as part of a modern and sparing agriculture
When we practice sustainable legume cultivation, thus creating conditions for modern, sustainable agriculture. Crop rotation with legumes every 3-5 years results in several significant benefits to the field. First, they retain atmospheric air in the soil, which reduces the need for nitrogen fertilizers for subsequent crops. Second, they preserve microorganisms in the soil, leading to increased fertility and breaking the cycle of some diseases. Third, pulses leave the deep groundwater that cereals would need in subsequent harvests, untouched. In addition, growing legumes is inherently sustainable since legumes require only 1/10 of the water of other plants and have almost no need for nitrogen fertilizers.

We have eliminated the need for double packaging and reduced waste by introducing the custom box for our products
In our pursuit of zero-waste technologies, we were able to develop a new type of box that eliminated the need for double packaging of various products. Thus, we reduced the waste generated by both the production process and by households. As a result of the new packaging technology, we developed the boxes of the Krina'Exotic Line range and Passiflora brans, which perfectly protect our products without increasing the natural footprint of human activity.
